Is there a Shellf web version?

Sort of. shellf.app has some 'desktop-optimized' features: library import and export. The full reading and discovery experience is mobile only today; a full web app is on the roadmap.

What’s on web today

shellf.app — this site — is currently just the marketing website. It also has a couple of features that are more suited to desktop — library import and exports, as well as account management. Here's what you can do today:

  • •Account management. Sign in (sign up is only via the app), password reset, delete account.
  • •CSV import. shellf.app/import-my-library accepts Goodreads / StoryGraph / generic CSV uploads. CSV upload is web-only today.
  • •Library export. shellf.app/export-my-library downloads your full library as CSV.
  • •AI recommendation tool. The AI book recommendation generator is a web-native version of the headline feature, no account required to try.
  • •Content surface. Comparison articles (best book tracker apps, Shellf vs Goodreads / StoryGraph / Fable / etc.), this FAQ, and the alternatives roundups.

What’s mobile-only

The full reading and discovery experience lives in the mobile apps:

  • •Library browsing, custom shelves, search
  • •Adding books (title search, barcode scan, manual entry)
  • •Rating, per-trait rating tags, notes
  • •In-app AI recommendations, “more like this”, dismiss
  • •Reading stats, taste fingerprint, archetype insights
  • •Goodreads sign-in import (the WebView path)

Why mobile-first

Most reading-context interactions happen on the device you’ve got with you: rating a book the moment you finish it, scanning a barcode at a bookstore, getting a recommendation on the commute. Mobile-first was the right starting bet for an app whose value is highest when it’s in your pocket.

Web reading is a real use case for some readers — especially desktop-first power users with large libraries who want a wide-screen view of their stats — and a full web app is on the roadmap. No firm date. The priority queue currently has iOS launch, format flags for audiobooks, and content warnings ahead of a full web app.
